A father fights for the right to communicate with his children! The attorney applied to the court to establish a visitation schedule.

Recently the Novomyrhorod District Court of the Kirovohrad region issued a decision that may become a precedent for similar cases.

Case details:

• The father lives apart from his minor daughters. The children’s mother unfortunately did not support the father-child relationship, effectively obstructing communication.

The court established a schedule of meetings between the father, who lives apart from the children, and his minor daughters.

Under the court decision, the father has the right to:

• See his daughters weekly from Saturday to Sunday from 10:00 to 17:00 in the mother’s presence until they turn 5, and thereafter without the mother present.
• Spend 20 days of joint vacation with his daughters during one of the summer months after they turn 5.
• See his daughters for half of the school holidays in autumn and winter for joint rest and recreation (after they turn 5).
• See his daughters on public holidays from 11:00 to 16:00.
• Communicate with his daughters by phone and email from 8:00 to 22:00.
• Attend their schools, sports clubs and children’s events with them.
• Visit his daughters in hospital if they fall ill.

This case is an important victory for parents fighting for the right to communicate with their children after divorce. The decision confirms that parents have equal rights and obligations toward their children, regardless of whom the children live with.
